fRiDaY!!!

Oh, no!
It's time to go home!
We've had an aWeSoMe time here!
We ended our week with worship and song and packed up and said our goodbyes.
By request, we stopped at The Cheese House (https://www.facebook.com/cadwells.cheese) and it snacks for our ride - cheese curds and caramels. Although they don't
Make the cheese there anymore, the owner's dad used to make the cheese himself for over 80 years.

Cheesy grins

We had fun!

This was a really big camp! This photo is of just the Rochester area folks, there was a big group from the Buffalo
area as well - we hope to see them again at LYO events in our synod or maybe the National Youth Gathering in Detroit in 2015,

This is Meghan and Rebecca's cabin group. Their counselor, Arin goes to St. Boneventure and plays rugby.

Katie is a senior counselor and a WW Alumna. She's also a member of Trinity Emmanuel.

Thursday!

I'm posting this from my phone, so all the photos are out of order, sorry!

A day late!
Yesterday was such a fun day and our LAST full day :::sniff:::
We talked about being gathered in the Holy Spirit and did a LOT if team-building activities, and talked about how the fruits of the Spirit and the gifts of the Spirit that we each bring are important to the community as a whole.

Can you see Laura Kaminsky dancing?

Then we had an awesome all camp party with dancing, and basketball and can jam and tether ball and more dancing and more games. And freeze pops. Yum!

Wednesday

Today's theme was about the fruits of the Spirit and gifts of the spirit.

Galatians 5:22-23

By contrast, the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, generosity, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, and self-control.

1 Corinthians 12

Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit; and there are varieties of services, but the same Lord; and there are varieties of activities, but it is the same God who activates all of them in everyone. To each is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good. To one is given through the Spirit the utterance of wisdom, and to another the utterance of knowledge according to the same Spirit, to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healing by the one Spirit, 10 to another the working of miracles, to another prophecy, to another the discernment of spirits, to another various kinds of tongues, to another the interpretation of tongues. 11 All these are activated by one and the same Spirit, who allots to each one individually just as the Spirit chooses.

We talked about our gifts and how we use them in our lives; and about how important it is for us to use and share our gifts.

In the afternoon session, we went to the Adventure Course and did 2 team-building exercises - the Nitro Crossing and the Raging River. These really challenged our group to use their gifts and encourage one another. I was so proud of our group - they did an awesome job!

We ended the day with Capture the Flag and a campfire.

It's hard to believe that tomorrow is our last full day!

Tuesday

Lots of activities at LCLC. Polar Bear swim, new games, and disc golf - the fun never stops!
~Rebecca

Camp is STILL fun(of course)! We went polar bearing this morning, which is getting up in the morning and swim at 6:55 in the morning. It is So Fun! I know I'm not a morning person, but this is an AWESOME way to wake up!

- Meghan

PS thank you so much for the package, Mrs. and Mr. Thompson! I'll be sure to return the books if you would like!

Waiting in the shade for small group time.

Pile of shoes representing a pile of sin.

Making one small change changes everything!
I had a whole post about our theme of sin and forgiveness and the Holy Spirit, but it disappeared before it got saved- oops!
 Be sure to ask Kevin, Meghan or Rebecca about each day's theme and the hands-on activities we did to illustrate the theme.
In the meantime, you can read Psalm139 - we spent time reflecting on that and what it means....
God KNOWS us. Intimately. The good and the bad.

139 1-6 God, investigate my life;
    get all the facts firsthand.
I’m an open book to you;
    even from a distance, you know what I’m thinking.
You know when I leave and when I get back;
    I’m never out of your sight.
You know everything I’m going to say
    before I start the first sentence.
I look behind me and you’re there,
    then up ahead and you’re there, too—
    your reassuring presence, coming and going.
This is too much, too wonderful—
    I can’t take it all in!

7-12 Is there anyplace I can go to avoid your Spirit?
    to be out of your sight?
If I climb to the sky, you’re there!
    If I go underground, you’re there!
If I flew on morning’s wings
    to the far western horizon,
You’d find me in a minute—
    you’re already there waiting!
Then I said to myself, “Oh, he even sees me in the dark!
    At night I’m immersed in the light!”
It’s a fact: darkness isn’t dark to you;
    night and day, darkness and light, they’re all the same to you.

13-16 Oh yes, you shaped me first inside, then out;
    you formed me in my mother’s womb.
I thank you, High God—you’re breathtaking!
    Body and soul, I am marvelously made!
    I worship in adoration—what a creation!
You know me inside and out,
    you know every bone in my body;
You know exactly how I was made, bit by bit,
    how I was sculpted from nothing into something.
Like an open book, you watched me grow from conception to birth;
    all the stages of my life were spread out before you,
The days of my life all prepared
    before I’d even lived one day.

17-22 Your thoughts—how rare, how beautiful!
    God, I’ll never comprehend them!
I couldn’t even begin to count them—
    any more than I could count the sand of the sea.

We also talked about forgiveness, and what it means to be able to both give and receive forgiveness. Ask them about it!

PS - we had awesome water games tonight in an effort to beat the heat!

Monday night

We've had a great day here at LCLC!
We've had worship, games, small group discussions (ask your kids about the Holy Spirit, and advocacy).
Lunch was Mac and cheese, ham sandwiches and salad bar. Dinner was chicken fajitas with retried beans, rice, and plenty of "fixins". Dessert was strawberry shortcake!
After dinner we played the "Amazing Grace" (get it?) cabin teams went around camp collecting clues from different countries and encountering road blocks and detours that had them working together on fun tasks and challenges.
I met up with Kevin and the flagpole and he assured me that he'd have some observations to share tomorrow.

Monday, Monday

Breakfast - unfortunately for me, it was bacon, eggs and oranges. Oh well! I was still able to have some oatmeal with raisins and brown sugar. :) Everything else at camp has been great so far!
~Rebecca

Camp is AWESOME!!!!
 My cabin mates are awesome, I've already met some new friends. Everything is so organized and fun!!! I am really getting to know myself and God through this camp.
~Meghan

We'll catch up with Kevin for his thoughts after lunch!

We're here!

We made it!
On the ride here we saw license plates from Kentucky, Maryland, DC, Ohio, Iowa, Michigan, Connecticut, Massachusetts and Pennsylvania.

Laura Kaminsky met us at the gate, and directed Rebecca, Kevin, and Meghan to their cabins.
It is H-O-T here.
The youth are lucky they got to take a swim before dinner for their camp swim test.
